The Ramones

The Ramones are a twentieth century punk-rock band. Representing grunge and minimalism, they are viewed as ultimately American. Formed in New York City, 1974, the Ramones were ranked one the the greatest hard-rock bands of all time, falling just behind the Beatles. All members of the band throughout the golden times of the Ramones include Dee Dee Ramone, Johnny Ramone, Joey Ramone, Tommy Ramone, Marky Ramone, Richie Ramone, Elvis Ramone, and C.J. Ramone. The band's first album, Ramones (including singles "Blitzkrieg Bop" and "I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend"), was released in 1976, along with an all together 21 more albums to come.

After an outstanding 2,263 concerts throughout 22 years, the Ramones split up in 1996. Of the four original band members, only one, Tommy Ramone, is alive today. The band remains a hard-rock inspiration and changed the punk world forever.
